This particular time of year is what I usually (and oh-so-gracefully) refer to as “awkward weather.” It’s that stretch of time when you feel like you’re more than ready to break out the scarves, boots and sweaters, but you can’t due to the fact that it’s still at least eighty degrees outside. This “awkward weather” of which I speak can make accessorizing for class a bit of a chore. If one decides to keep wearing her floral sun hats and flip flops all throughout these first couple months of school, she may end up looking like she’s trying too hard to hold onto summer and not embracing the fall weather that’s on its way. On the other hand, if one instantly decides that with the start of the school year begins the start of dressing strictly for autumn, she may risk suffering from a little heat exhaustion.
Now, Fashionistas, you may now be asking yourselves, “What is the accessory solution when dressing for these first couple months of school?” Luckily for you, I spotted it on a girl who was waiting for her next class to start. She wore a leopard print top and a black, lace A-line skirt. What really caught my eye was her choice of footwear. If you know anything about me, you know that I LOVE a good ballet flat. Her flats took it to the next level as they were basically a hybrid of a sandal and a ballet flat, and honestly, how much more appropriate can a shoe be during this time of year?
If you’re still on the hunt for the perfect shoe for the next month or so until it’s officially time to break out the boots, go ahead and try a peep-toe ballet flat. These Old Navy flats are adorable and will look awesome with a pair of skinny jeans and your favorite top. If you want something a tiny bit flashier, check out these metallic peep toe slingbacks from Topshop.
So if you were having a bit of an accessories conundrum thanks to the unfortunate and utterly unpredictable weather we’ve been having, slip your feet into a pair of peep-toe ballet flats and fear no more.
