Leopard prints don’t seem to ever go out of style. Leopard means more to our culture than just a piece of patterned clothing, shoe or purse. Leopard has sex appeal, yet it’s sophisticated. It represents a high society or class, yet nowadays it can be seen in almost any type of clothing store, whether you have expensive taste or not. It’s lived through nearly every fashion era, but still represents the new and modern. Leopard is empowerment; When a person wears leopard print, he or she is going to stand out in the crowd.
In my case, this Fashionista stood out to me among the thousands of students bustling about Jayhawk Boulevard the first day of classes. It wasn’t because she was decked out head to toe in the latest trends and brands. The rest of her clothes were quite basic, actually. She wore a gray T-shirt underneath a black leather jacket and black jeans. Her outfit, however, looked put together, stylish and eye-catching because of her you guessed it— leopard Vans. It brought her entire outfit from casual to cool. She looked like a girl I would want to kick back and hang out with downtown on the weekends. If you want to be as cool as this Fashionista (which I assume you do), buy some leopard prints to add to your closet. They will serve as a clothing or accessory staple for the days that you need a little more spice in your life. Also, I guarantee that it will be in style for quite a while. Forever 21 and Bloomingdale’s have selections of leopard print clothing, as well as other animal prints.
Spotted: Leopard prints were seen all over the fall 2013 New York Fashion Week, including collections of DKNY, Tracy Reese, Diane von Furstenburg and Giambattista Valli. The latest trend, however, seemed to be more of a wilder, colorful and larger leopard style print.
