A new year and new semester is the perfect time to rock some new trending looks. With winter in full swing, weather is only looking to get colder; but that doesn’t mean you have to hide in your bulky down jacket — try a vest on for size! Freshman Hope Hourigan is ringing in the new year with two hot-off-the-runway trends — fur and links. This Fashionista donned a faux fur vest over a striped knit sweater, paired with a Tory Burch cross body clutch that features gold accents and a linked strap. With her hair pulled back and sporting neutral colors, the vest is the main focus of Hope’s outfit. The golden links of the cross body clutch also make a nice contrast to the vertical stripes on her sweater.
When one thinks of wearing furs, elegant events come to mind; but these trendy faux fur vests come in a variety of colors and textures making them perfect for any occasion. This versatile piece can be paired with jeans and a basic long sleeve tee for a casual look, or put on over a dress and tights (and belt the waist) for a date night. A vest and sweater combination will cause you to stand out among the crowd of go-to basic black North Face jackets. These vests allow you to make a fashion statement without catching a cold! It is also a good transitional piece for late winter to early spring, as well as late summer to fall.
Check stores such as Nordstrom, Shopbop, and Forever 21 to find a vest that goes with your wardrobe and your budget. A faux fur vest would make a great (and animal friendly!) addition to any Fashionista’s closet.
