It’s getting chilly on campus and this week, many classmates have been accessorizing with leather. This Fashionista styles a leather moto jacket, leather backpack and leather boots to match. Leather is this season’s hottest trend, it’s sleek and shiny, adding a little extra edge to our fall outfits. This week’s Fashionista took the leather trend in a punk-inspired route. Her leather accessories are adorned with buckles, zippers and other cool hardware. Her look can be mirrored with great leather boots with fun, punk hardware. My favorite punk-inspired boots of the season are from the Chanel fall/winter 2013 collection. With a great pair of boots, like those from Chanel, they can be the centerpiece of your fall wardrobe. Leather boots are practical, essential, beautiful and fun. They can be “grunged” down or classed up with a minimalist approach. This season, we can’t get enough leather.
The more leather in one outfit, the better. Try adding another great leather staple to your wardrobe and upgrade your usual backpack to leather. You’ll be the center of envy on campus. Who says you have to carry your classroom essentials in a boring bag?
Want this look? Pair any fall outfit with at least three leather accessories. Adding leather shouldn’t be hard to do since practically every garment out this fall has leather details. Even the most conservative apparel companies such as J.Crew have jackets and dresses with leather trim. Leather is on everything, not just on bags and shoes. Try buying some leather gloves or leather jewelry to accessorize with as an alternative.
Not a fan of leather, would you rather go without? There are vegan alternatives to leather for those more conscious of the environment and animal rights. Stella McCartney sells trendy faux leather bags and BCBGMAXAZRIA has apparel made from faux leather as well. Leather is for everyone this season. Have fun and express your inner punk by adding a little leather to your wardrobe.
Spotted: Leather shoes and clothes on the runway of Elizabeth and James, Versace and Chanel. Each collection showcased leather accessories with fun details and punk-inspired styles.
