Spring is awakening and the summer months are calling. I don’t think there is anyone I know who doesn’t get excited about the summer. Although we probably prefer sitting on the lawn, enjoying the sunshine and not going to the next lecture, we can’t forget the essentials like sunscreen, hats and sunglasses. But who says these accessories have to be boring? No, I’m not talking about coloured sunscreen. I’m talking about the craze with decorative frames, or otherwise known as the eccentric sunglasses.
Walking from one side of the campus to the other involves a lot of the sun in your eyes. This Fashionista was in a sunny situation as I stumbled upon her. I couldn’t go past this Fashionista without taking multiple glances at these frames that she put on. The sunglasses gave a whimsical touch to her preppy outfit, which combines a Zara shirt, a pair of black lace shorts and a satchel handbag. Her eccentric frames added a coolness factor to her outfit and this Fashionista couldn’t agree more: “I wanted something different, so I decided to look on eBay and I found these!”
Eccentric styling covets today’s fashion scene, accessories, like the decorative sunglasses, prove to be worth more than just the extra item. Yes, sunglasses protect your eyes from the sun, but I’m guessing celebrities, bloggers and designers are all saying, “Let’s have a little fun while we are at it, shall we?” Not only are the eccentric sunglasses a fashion statement, but they can transform your look from ordinary to unique, comical and personal.
Just like Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Bryanboy or Susie Bubble, who fully express their unconventional style through the medium of clothes, this Fashionista did it simply by wearing her pair of round flip-up sunglasses. Her hair tied up into a bun, making it easy to see her frames. I found I was able to interpret her style just by looking at her: “Yes, I am preppy and chic, but I am fun and quirky too!” So forget about a pair of Ray-Bans. It’s time to go big or go home! If you want to go low-key with eccentricity as an entire outfit’s aesthetic, then follow suit of this Fashionista. Wear a simple outfit, yet put on a pair of quirky sunglasses to cover up your eyes.
