Accessories Report

Montreal has been experiencing a bit of a heat wave this past week, which has been a nice change from the usual minus 20 degrees celsius we usually have this time of year. Needless to say, it’s been a welcome change and this city’s students have definitely been showing their excitement with their outfit choices. I spotted this Fashionista on Boulevard De Maisonneuve, wearing a wintery look with a headband for a twist of spring. The flirty style and floral pattern of her headband are a great way to add an element of “cute” to any outfit, no matter how edgy the rest of it may look. Notice the way this Fashionista’s entire outfit is built up of varying shades of grey and black? This is what keeps her look from appearing too spring-time for mid-January.

Headbands like these are also a great way to incorporate the bow trend that has been popping up everywhere. The fabric is sewn on top of malleable wires, allowing you to twist and bend them into any shape. Bows of any colour or print are associated with being cute and flirty, so they work best for a daytime look. The way that this particular style bow wraps itself all the way around her head also means that its perfect for those days where you want to cover up un-showered hair, without needing to worry about being too warm or giving yourself hat head.

Although we all know this Montreal heat wave won’t last, there’s nothing wrong with playing around with some spring looks in the mean time, right? Forever 21 has some great options, ranging from patterned to solid styles, or you splurge on this embellished piece!

Spotted: This look has shown up multiple times on the runway of one of my own personal favorite designers, Marc Jacobs. Check it out here and here.
