It’s almost Easter, and for us in the UK, that means it’s almost spring break! Well not really, more like a month off to review for final exams and dissertation hand ins. Because of the amount of work we are required to do, I haven’t had the chance to go home to Canada. So I find myself, instead, smack dab in the middle of the English countryside. I’m surrounded by rolling green hills, quaint little villages and the amazing Highclere Castle (aka Downton Abbey, for my mutual fans!). Now everyone knows what English countryside apparel entails: tweed Jackets, hunter wellies and warm jumpers; but just because one has to be ready for the rain and mud doesn’t mean that you can’t add a bit a sparkle to your outfit!
This week’s Fashionista was getting ready to walk her dogs wearing an outfit made of a white knit jumper, dark jeans, short brown motorcycle boots and a waterproof bomber jacket, all from Pull & Bear! The earthy tones of her outfit match the mood of the weather in the countryside at the moment, and complement each other nicely. I especially like the faux-fur on the collar of the jacket, which adds some high fashion flair to her outfit. The amazing aspect of this Fashionista’s outfit is not, however, her clothing, but what is on her fingers! Yes, she is engaged! On her finger lies a beautiful square cut diamond resting in a Tiffany’s platinum setting. It is every girl’s dream to have some frosting from Tiffany’s embellishing her left hand–I know it is certainly mine! On her other hand, is an equally beautiful ring, but this one is a bit more deceptive. Although it looks like diamonds, this one is Swarovski crystals set into silver.
If you want to replicate this Fashionista’s countryside look, I would do exactly what she did and go to Pull & Bear. They have some great knitwear that is affordable and classy, including this same white piece. And lucky if you love her brown leather booties, they are still in stock! If you want the classic English countryside look though, try anything from Jack Wills, but especially their lovely tailored tweed blazers.
Now, if you are fortunate enough to have a fiancée who wants you to design your engagement ring, or if you are just like me and enjoy playing around and designing your own on the Tiffany’s website, I would recommend taking a look. If you are a square cut girl like this week’s Fashionista, then this will be the ring for you. If you are not getting engaged anytime soon, fret not because diamonds are a girls best friend, and are acceptable, in my opinion, to wear at any time. You could try on this classic flower shaped ring, or for something more modern, perhaps this thin white gold ring with diamonds inset. If you want to have the look, but don’t want to splurge on a diamond, there is this beautiful crystal ring.
Really it doesn’t matter what you wear, I think a little sparkle is acceptable and ladylike at any time, whether you are walking the dogs or going to a black tie event. It just really proves, that diamonds go with everything.
Spotted: Some cool variation on how to wear tweed can be seen in Edun‘s fall 2013 ready-to-wear runway show.
