Ever heard the phrase “simple is better”? This phrase definitely does not apply all the time; I mean, come on, what would you rather have, a Chanel bag or a Target version? But in terms of accessories, many times it is the simple ones that can make an outfit stand out. Certain cuts and fabrics just suit delicate details more so than large statement pieces.
Today’s Fashionista styled her delicate jewelry effortlessly. She mixed and matched her metals and complemented her lace top with the accessories she chose. She wore gold-toned Jack Rogers sandals, one gold and one silver Alex & Ani bangles and a silver Pandora charm bracelet. She also wore a delicate Stella & Dot gold arrow necklace. All of these accessories worked well together because of their simplicity. Her top was innately delicate because of the lace, so larger jewelry would have overwhelmed the look. Along with her pink lace top, today’s Fashionista paired her outfit with tan chino shorts. While her shorts looked great with her look, a high-waisted tan A-line skirt would make this look even more dreamy and girly.
The Fashionista mixed silver and gold jewelry together well. As I have said before, this skill is sometimes hard to master, however I believe it is easier to accomplish with smaller pieces like the Fashionista’s. My problem with keeping outfits simple is that I will stack too many delicate pieces together whether they are rings, bracelets or necklaces and totally miss the purpose of delicacy. Try wearing just one or two small accessories with your outfit and see how it can change your look. After meeting this Fashionista, I appreciate that phrase I have heard my whole life; simple really is better.
Spotted: In alice + olivia’s spring 2014 ready-to-wear collection, they featured simple, girly outfits with barely any jewelry. The models only wore stud earrings that inherently stood out among the delicate looks.
