Strut your stuff around school because there is no harm in dressing up your outfit, even if you’ll be sitting in class all day. The great thing about looking cute on a school day is that it means less hassle when you prep hours later to go out at night.
One trend that is taking over winter and spring wardrobes is neon. Bold colors, in general, always make a statement, but when it comes to an overall subdued ensemble, a pop of neon catches everyone’s attention. This Fashionista pairs her H&M chunky neon necklace with a pair of animal print loafers. Her outfit remains appropriate to wear around campus, but is still dressy enough for night. What’s great is she mixes colors and prints together. You could recreate this outfit, for instance: an animal print belt worn with a pair of leather pants, which are paired with a polka-dot sweater and an oversize neon necklace.
The best thing about neon is beaucoup de accessories look great in these bright colors–yellow, green, orange and pink–belts, earrings, clutches and shoes. Accessories, like these, are fabulous for preparing your spring wardrobe. Two great online sites to check out are Tobi and KarmaLoop. The fashion jewelry department of Nordstrom always has great looks, too, although sometimes these pieces are more expensive. The good news is you don’t have to look too hard for this trend because it’s definitely one that’s hard to miss this spring!
Spotted: This trend has definitely taken over the spring 2013 runways. Designers, such as Proenza Schouler, may not have used neon for accessories, but more for the complete look’s color pallette. Do if you dare! Other designers, such as Stella McCartney, have taken a more subtle approach to neon. Check out these collections or other resort 2013 collections for some style inspiration.
