Fall may just be around the corner, but the sunny skies and temperate conditions in certain parts of the country seem to think otherwise. I’m loving this transitional period between seasons where we get the best of both worlds. Sometimes it’s a little too warm for a fall jacket and jeans, but the colors still have to be just right to ensure the ensemble is on trend, which gives observers a fun contrast of a fall-ready color palette and summer shapes and pieces to beat the heat (or residual summer warmth). It’s fun to observe these changes and trends roll over from season to season and the truly stylish are able to stand out and make their mark.
Our summery Fashionista has done just that: combined autumnal coloring with sunny pieces that help keep her look on trend and ever-present. The colors of her outfit are definitely cooler than the hot pinks and reds popular throughout the summer, but the lightness of her skirt and top (in addition to the undeniable summery aspect of her sandals) makes the ensemble warm-weather ready. Her cross-body pouch is definitely an eye-catcher because of how useful it is for a typical college student. The cool leather is perfectly matched for the summer and the studded metal accents help give a hardness to an otherwise completely feminine look. She also wears a pair of perfectly appropriate white leather sandals, which pack some serious punch even after Labor Day. Of course, I’m loving her sunglasses, my usual accessory of choice, and the bug-eye shape adds a Hollywood glam that applies to her bright white sandals and asymmetrically-hemmed skirt.
Bring elements of this look into your personal wardrobe by combining the ever-evolving high-low hemline with a pair of autumnal oxford flats or leather booties. Combine the look with a trendy pair of plastic-frame sunglasses to protect your face from the cold like these from brand Warby Parker. Don’t forget to accessorize with some jewelry, real or costume. Drape it around your neck for a chic feel or stud your wrists for a textural appeal.
