Regarded as a fashion genius and also the mastermind behind Chanel, Coco Chanel said this truth, ” Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street. Fashion has to do with ideas. The way we live, what is happening.” Fashion has to be new and innovative; however, it also has to change with what is happening in the world around it. Creepers are a relatively recent innovation in the fashion world. It has adapted to how we live in the manner they offer the comfort of sneakers, provide the height of a platform shoe and have a funky polished look. This eclectic shoe marries both the aspects of having a wedge and resembling a loafer. They are a shoe that is destined to capture attention with its sleek and unique design.
This Fashionista pairs her black patent leather creepers with a tan colored puffer jacket and saddle-brown leather backpack. The subdued colors of the jacket, pants and backpack help in showcasing the creepers. In addition with the neutral classic pieces it makes the outfit not seem trendy, but rather chic. The Fashionista’s simplistic overall look gives off an aura of understated maturity that offsets the youthfulness of the creepers.
For my Fashionistas out there, don’t be deterred by creepers’ intimidating appearance. Creepers are a shoe with a high impact, but can be subdued with the right outfit. They may seem to be a ‘one trick pony,’ but are in reality rather versatile. To achieve a look that still is chic and funky try pairing them with a plain white T-shirt, distressed jeans, a blazer and layered necklaces. For a more daring look, pair your creepers with a two-piece matching ensemble in a palm-tree print and top it off with gold hoops and Ray Ban aviators.
Creepers will make a style statement with any outfit. They embody the epitome of innovation and invention.
