There’s nothing quite as satisfying as knowing that it’s officially time to break out the sartorial essentials of autumn and winter. Whether it’s a cozy coat, a fuzzy scarf or a slouchy beanie, there is a certain sense of completion that comes with finally being able to utilize all of your accessories, instead of limiting your options to the ones that are only appropriate for temperatures of sixty degrees and higher.
Unquestionably, one of the biggest game changers when it comes to the ultimate fall accessory is the boot. In fact, ask any girl to list her fall favorites, and it is almost guaranteed one of her answers will be her boots. I’ll be the first to admit that I, too, love a great pair of boots; they’re comfortably chic, and they keep my feet toasty as I trot through four whole snow-covered months at Kent State University (and, in doing so, I always ask myself why I didn’t choose to attend school in, say, California). However, since a large majority of us Fashionistas will soon be breaking out our boots for the next couple seasons, why not make yours stand out by opting for a combat boot?
I spotted this delightful Fashionista as she was on her way to class. From a distance, I could already tell that I loved her look, and I noticed that she styled her combat boots to a tee. Combat boots are a strong accessory and are known for adding toughness to a look. This Fashionista understood just how to make that edginess work to her advantage. By wearing a pair of black skinny jeans and a green army jacket with juxtaposing black leather sleeves, she was able to seamlessly incorporate the black combat boots into her overall outfit. She looked cool and on-trend while still managing to mesh the boots with her own personal style.
Another wonderful thing about combat boots is their ability to be extremely versatile. They look just as chic with a dress and a blazer as they do with this Fashionista’s military-inspired garb. That said, even though they slightly stray from the traditional boot, you’ll still get plenty of wear out of them.
Hopefully, fellow Fashionistas, you are all just as thrilled about breaking out your chilly-weather gear as I am. Adding a pair of combat boots to your collection of fall and winter accessories will help you combat the cold and look chic all the while.
Spotted: For his fall/winter 2013 collection, Prabal Gurung chose to take a different spin on the military boot. He took them to the next level by raising them to the knee and adding a high heel.
