Oh the weather outside is frightful, but this Fashionista’s pop of color is so delightful! With a steep drop in temperature, many of Villanova’s most stylish have forgone trendy outerwear in favor of bulky, down jackets. This Fashionista’s North Face Parka is a must-have for the bitter cold days ahead of us on the mainline. I myself even have a cropped, shapelier version. I was pleasantly surprised at how cute this Fashionista was able to make her winter gear with the addition of colorful cold weather accessories.
I instantly recognized her kate spade Twirl Scarf, a favorite of mine, as I’m coincidentally wearing them in my Style Guru photo. I usually use it to accessorize jeans and long sleeve sweaters. To be honest, I’d never actually worn it as a way to combat the cold. I was reminded that fashion has function! She paired it with a kate spade whimsical ‘Taxi!’ mittens and a Topshop for Nordstrom head warmer. The effect was nothing short of adorable! Although the weather is drab, there is no excuse to let style fall to the wayside.
Live Colorfully was an amazing ad campaign done by Kate Spade in her spring 2011 line. The designer, known for her classic pieces, is a huge proponent of the power of color, and I couldn’t agree with her more! This winter, live colorfully and combat the winter blues with rainbow bright accessories. A pop of color is the perfect cure for seasonal outfit depression. When you go out at night, replace a pair black tights under your skirt with this red statement pair from ModCloth. Even pairing a pair of brightly colored jeans with your boots and parka is an easy way to add some much needed color in the midst of the gray winter months.
Spotted: Kate Spade isn’t the only designer who has decided to live colorfully. Color blocking was a huge trend for both clothing and accessories shown for 2012. The trend continues with a greater emphasis on color blocked accessories for spring 2013. Gucci showed brightly colored shoulder bags and daytime clutches during Milan fashion week.
