ACCESSORIES REPORT: Chic In No Time

Accessories Report

The start of every new semester brings along with it a fresh start and new opportunities. While walking around KSU it’s easy to see how style could be pushed to the back burner. It’s below freezing every day, there are loads of new friends to make, books are being purchased and schedules are being finalized. Well, chic winter fashion isn’t as hard as everyone thinks. With some key accessories and a cozy sweater you can be back to fashionable before syllabus week ends.

This Fashionista is the perfect inspiration for those cold mornings when it seems impossible to make it to Italian class at eight am, let alone in a cute outfit. Her style is comfy yet fashion forward, with a vintage menswear inspired twist. Her sweater is the perfect pop of interest paired with worn in denim. The bright color is a huge trend from summer that has trickled into fall and winter. But her real accomplishment is adding unique accessories. In the wintertime when every Fashionista on campus is wearing a sweater and military boots, adding a fun accessory will set you apart from the pack.

Her watch is exactly what I picture when I think about a college student keeping time (that is if we didn’t all have a cellphones). It’s chic and unique, but extremely functional. It adds a sophisticated menswear feel to her outfit making this Fashionista stand out. A watch like this one from Shopbop can be paired with any winter outfit from a flannel button-up to a floral dress and tights.

During the cold winter months, just remember: the accessories really make all the difference in your style. Yes, you can roll out of bed, throw on a big sweater and go to class, but if you add that extra pop, you’ll make that lasting impression and start this semester off fabulously!

Spotted: Models all sported cool watches in Balenciaga’s spring/summer 2011 ready to wear show. They added the perfect touch of uniqueness and the trend has recently translated into street style.
