Whenever it’s dreary outside, I like to play dress up. I find that most people take rainy days as a chance to hide under a frumpy hoodie (shudder) and a pair of boring yoga pants, but why sell yourself short like that? Instead, take it as a chance to be creative with your outfit because whether you like it or not, your style says a thousand words about you. The easiest way to spruce up your look is by incorporating accessories. Break down and buy those amazing forest green Hunter boots that you’ve been lusting over, find a fabulous raincoat and try out a new wide-brimmed hat. Whatever you do, put your a unique twist on it and make it your own.
This Fashionisto showed off his skate-inspired style by wearing a funky printed Supreme button-up, a pair of classic black pants and some maroon suede Vans. He made the look his own by adding a cozy gray beanie, some killer sunnies and a navy blue Herschel Supply Co. backpack. This Fashionisto could have easily chosen to hide under an ill-fitting rain-coat, but instead he chose to stand out in the crowd of grumpy rain-haters and looked brilliant while doing so.
By keeping it fairly simple with his beanie and sunnies, he allowed the bold printed button-up and maroon shoes to stand-out. When you are working with such a loud print, it’s important to make sure that you’re not to over doing your accessories. While it can be fun and exciting to experiment with accessory-mixing, too many and suddenly you’re looking like a crazy bag-lady who lives under a bridge and owns a herd of wild cats. Just remember that the most important component of your outfit is confidence. Own your look and the rest is cake.
Spotted: Speaking of cat ladies, some of favorite print and accessory combinations that I’ve seen on the runway this season are from Miu Miu’s spring 2014 ready-to-wear collection. I mean, have you seen this brilliant cat coat?
