Fashion Week is fast approaching and everyone including myself seems to be in a tizzy about the spring 2013 collections. But the reality of the harsh winter season has been hitting hard these next few weeks. Every conversation begins with how cold it is and ends discussing the dread of facing the outdoors. Maybe this is why warm weather collections come out so early? It’s our only shred of hope as we bear the ice and snow of the season. However, we still have to go out in that dreary weather. Take a look at how this Fashionista reminds us of the 2012 runway trends we should be using as inspiration to embrace the wintry weather. Her fur hat simply demands attention as she walks through campus. I guarantee that if people weren’t jealous of her fashion trend they were undeniably jealous of her warmth.
After the fur uproar in the ’90s it seems fashion designers took a hint and went on a break from fur for a while. Designers didn’t really have much of a choice after models like Naomi Campbell spoke out saying,“I’d rather go naked than wear fur.” In the past few seasons fur has been making its comeback after being absent for so long, thanks to faux fur. Fur is back and this Fashionista knows how to flaunt it.
The gray tones of her hat allow her to match it to almost anything. As you can tell here it complements her blue, black and white colored ensemble very well. You couldn’t ask for a much more perfect accessory. Fur accessories keep you warm, matching and. most importantly, in style. We often see fur hats that tend to be taken as jokes. But this hat is bold, beautiful and screams class. Its shape reminds me almost of a top hat. Do you see that too? Just like the dress figures fashion students are forced to memorize inside and out, hats have their same key shapes. You can protest it, refuse it and say you hate it, but you can’t beat it. Fur will never be laid to rest. Weather it be faux or real, it’s too tempting. We all need a little fluff sometimes.
Spotted: Seoul, always ahead of the trends, introduced fur again with an overwhelming wave of fur pieces in their 2010 runway show.
