On a scorchingly hot school day in DeKalb, Illinois the last thing anyone wants to do is wear extra layers or heavy accessories on the way to classes. With a campus where walking long distances is practically a requirement, staying cool and comfortable is every student’s main priority—next to passing all of our classes of course! I think I speak for all of my fellow Northern Illinois University Huskies when I say that we are ready for fall to arrive and give us a break from this 90 degree weather!
This Fashionista took the heat into account when she chose her coral lace shorts and paired them with a boldly printed cross tank top. To stick with her simple and girly look, she added black leather flip flops with ribbon bows. My favorite part of this Fashionista’s outfit is her gold and coral cut-out earrings.
This look can easily be replicated with similar styles and colors. Target always seems to have bright, solid colored shorts or jeans during almost any season. If you are looking for a loose and versatile top with a fun pattern then check out the T-shirts and tanks at Urban Outfitters. For unique sandals I would recommend an out-of-the-ordinary pair like these from American Eagle Outfitters. If you’re interested in inexpensive jewelry that will make a big statement and catch everyone’s eye, my favorite place to search for reasonably priced earrings and necklaces is Forever 21.
Spotted: Banana Republic also loves to pair a bright color with matching jewelry, like in their spring 2013 ready-to-wear fashion show.
