There’s something about an all-black outfit that exudes sophistication and sleekness. All-black is a bold statement without being loud and maintains a classic feel. Whether it was Audrey Hepburn’s iconic black Givenchy dress from Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Lady Gaga in all black leather or our favorite witches from American Horror Story: Coven, all-black outfits are timeless and versatile no matter what personal style you ascribe to. Besides, who doesn’t want to feel like the next Supreme?
This Fashionista is striking in grungy all-black, a nice backdrop for her candy colored hair. One of my favorite things about her all-black outfit is that she uses her accessories to define the feel of her outfit. Our Fashionista’s black “New York” beanie with black embroidery is very understated and compeiments her bold hair. Her suede platform creepers match her socks and tights perfectly, elongating her legs and giving her some added height. Creepers are a fun, edgier alternative to traditional oxfords and can give a boring outfit a bit of unexpected flare. My favorite part of our Fashionista’s look is her fingerless skeleton gloves. They allow her to use her phone easily and also give her simple black outfit a sense of her personality.
There is nothing better than an all-black outfit to showcase your favorite accessories. A bright statement necklace, a black sweater and boots form an endlessly classic look. It’s the perfect way to wear an all-black outfit if you’re not as comfortable with the edgy look of this week’s Fashionista. An all-black outfit is also the perfect time to experiment with different hat styles. Our Fashionista opted for a simple beanie, but you could try a black floppy hat or a even a bowler hat if you were feeling bold.
Spotted: In Oscar de la Renta’s fall ready-to-wear 2013 collection, gloves were one of the main accessories showcased, showing that the value of gloves goes beyond function; they can be an integral piece of an outfit.
