The beautiful weather we’ve been experiencing lately is exactly what Vassar needed. I think many students (including myself) were getting a bit stir crazy after being cooped up in the dorms for so long. Luckily that is no longer the case thanks to the lovely sunshine and warmer temperatures.
I was quite happy to see an increase in springtime styles as I walked around campus this week. In particular, I was impressed by the fashion choices of many of the guys on campus. When I saw this Fashionisto I knew he would be perfect to spotlight for this week’s article. His outfit emphasizes lighter layers and the laid-back cool style that defines college campuses during the warmer months.
Of all the pieces in this Fashionisto’s outfit, his hat is what helps him achieve that effortlessly stylish attitude the most. When I complimented him on it, he told me it was vintage. It has a worn-in, well-loved look to it and matches perfectly with his jacket. Beyond loving the design of the hat, I am also a fan of how he actually styled it. There is something about wearing a baseball cap backwards that makes it look infinitely cooler than just wearing it the normal way. It makes a commonly athletic style into a cooler, edgy piece. To top it all off, the small bit of hair peeking out the front of the hat is a fun and unexpected style that adds a bit of personality to his outfit.
Overall, I think this Fashionisto styled himself perfectly. He used gray and black pieces to tone down the bright purple and pink on his shirt. He is a great example of how to include spring colors in a way that is fresh and lively without being overwhelming.
