We’re all familiar with the infamous song, Snapbacks and Tattoos that made a statement for these particular accessories in 2012, however it’s time to leave that trend solely for themed parties and trade them in for backpacks and chucks-too for your every day look.
This week’s Fashionista was channeling her inner ’90s girl with her grunge-inspired look. Put together with acid washed jeans, a flannel wrapped around her waist and an oversized off the shoulder T-shirt, all paired perfectly with her high-top Chuck Taylors or better known as Converse. We don’t need to read her shirt to get a ’90s grunge vibe. What I love most about this ensemble is how an ordinary flannel, which is not considered an accessory, immediately turns into just that: it’s no longer worn to keep you warm or as a shirt, but rather as an accessory to simply add to her outfit.
Now let’s focus on her killer accessories that any Fashionista should add to their closet. Whether you know them by the name of Chucks, Taylors, high-top’s or Converse, chances are you currently own or owned a pair back when you were growing up. This brand has been around since 1908 and isn’t going to go out of style any time soon. What’s so unique about Converse is that they don’t advertise their shoes for a specific customer or categorize what kind of person and style should be wearing them, but rather they let the customers make up what their brand stands for and how they’re worn. This week’s Fashionista embodies the fun and individuality that this brand values and is all about. What caught my attention with this Fashionista’s pair was the ruggedness and worn in look that they display. Most people are afraid to get shoes that are white and will get dirty, however that’s exactly what gives character to her pair. Although these shoes go perfectly with a grunge look, they can be paired with almost any style of clothing, so make them your own!
Backpacks seem to be the new “it” accessory on campus. More specifically Herschel backpacks seem to be the go-to brand of choice. This Fashionista is equally as fashionable from the back view as she is head on thanks to Herschel having her back. This backpack is just as trendy as the totes used to carry books and laptops, so why not get your own today. Not only can you buy them directly from Herschel on their website but stores such as Urban Outfitters and Madewell are selling them as well. The combination of suede bottoms, corduroy front pockets and color blocking add instant flare to the backpack, which ultimately sets these backpacks apart from the rest worn on campus.
There’s no need to blend in with the rest of campus when you can standout with the simple help of just one or two accessories like these.
