I went through a phase of only envisioning myself wearing certain outfits and accessories on the streets of cities and convinced myself that I would look out of place if I strolled down the sidewalks of my Connecticut town in the same attire. I strayed away from buying certain accessories because I thought that I would just wait to buy them when I am in my twenties and have a real event or place to wear them to. I quickly learned to stop saving my accessories for something better. Of course, putting aside that special necklace or those extravagant studded pumps for a special party is one thing, but preserving day-to-day clothes for no reason is another. The time to express yourself through your accessories is now!
This Fashionista is a perfect example of expressing herself by fearlessly bringing a high-end outfit to a rural Pennsylvania town. She illustrates an elegant and chic look on a snowy day as she goes from class to class. Her poise and composure pour through her polished outfit of black leather and a few pops of color. One of the main reasons why this Fashionista stands out is because she does not give in to the customary backpack for school, but rather, rocks a beautiful black leather tote with a small monogram on the front pocket. I fell in love with this outfit because it is basic yet extremely sophisticated. In concordance with the bag, the sleeves of the coat provide a unique touch because they are not only leather but also quilted. This quilted detail is essential to making this outfit cosmopolitan with its European look that is simply urbane.
Even though we are all buried beneath our coats, it is still important to accessorize with jewelry underneath! This Fashionista wears a short gold necklace with a long pendant necklace and mixes the two well by wearing a neutral light grey blouse. However, these necklaces are covered up while she’s outside due to her oversized burnt orange scarf. This scarf breaks up the black ensemble well without being too bold because it is backed with neutral tones. Lastly, bangles are perfect any time of year and this Fashionista wears trendy Alex and Ani bangles while also bringing in a funky beaded bracelet. She also adds a solid steel statement watch that is extremely unembellished and adds a classy touch to her whole look. Accessories can be the main reason why certain outfits either come to life or remain unnoticed. I find that this Fashionista’s outfit is perfectly complemented by each and every one of her accessories.
Spotted: I always love finding the beauty and differences among designer handbags and have found a great black tote from Jason Wu’s spring 2014 line. I particularly love Wu’s bags because he is a graduate from my high school! Next, a different type of black tote from Marc Jacob’s spring 2014 bags is unique due to its many gold embellishments. Lastly, check out Bally’s spring 2014 bags for a tote that has more detail and expression than most!
