For all you working Fashionistas out there, it may seem that cold weather forces you into dress pants, leggings and even corduroy pants every single day. This can most definitely put a damper in your winter wardrobe. But, this can all be avoided with one accessory that has been around forever (chances are you most likely were forced into them as a little girl) – tights! They allow you to put on that fancy skirt of yours or that LBD you have been dying to wear since you bought it. Tights have proven themselves to be more than boring, black, itchy things.
While doing some holiday shopping, I spotted this Fashionista in a very seasonal ensemble. From her red cotton cardigan to her edgy black studded combat boots, there was no doubt her outfit caught my attention. Most importantly, she kept warm with her basic black tights. The thing with tights is that they can add a chic touch to any outfit. Even with her edgy combat boots, the tights offset the edginess and add a feminine touch.
These days, you can find a variety of tights in different colors, patterns and textures. Patterned tights can almost do as much to your outfit as a statement necklace can. They add personality and can be paired with a variety of different pieces of clothing. My favorite look is a bright colored skirt or dress, boots and simple patterned tights paired with chic boots. Any Fashionista would be ready for work in that outfit!
One key rule when playing around with tights: keep it simple either on top or bottom. If you have an adorable patterned skirt or dress then pair it with a solid color pair of tights. On the other hand, if your dress or skirt is a solid color, go all out and wear those polka-dot, striped or wooly ribbed tights! It is really hard to go wrong with this versatile accessory, which means there is no excuse not to go out and buy yourself a pair this holiday. From family parties this Christmas break to New Year’s Eve, tights will become your best friend, I promise.
