When I first saw the trend reports for the spring/ summer 2013 season and read that floral patterns were considered in once again, my initial thoughts went to the obvious: Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada condescendingly saying “Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking.” However, while prints featuring blossoms appear to be here to stay, designers are forever reinventing them by incorporating varying colors and sizes into the mix. This season they were revived in a modern fashion, encompassing loud prints and bright hues, such as neon shades.
This Fashionista’s skirt is right on trend, featuring blooms in vibrant shades of yellow, orange and purple. With summer sunshine and temperatures finally here, breathable pieces are must-haves and her skirt fits the order with its swingy and airy style. She chose to style it with a black tank top and lightweight jacket to remain comfortable as the temperature drops slightly in the evenings. Props to her because in addition to floral, she is also on cue with several other current fashion crazes by successfully managing to include denim, studs and leather sleeves into one ensemble. That’s talent!
To accessorize, this stylish lady opted to balance the femininity of the skirt with edgy pieces, such as a studded black bag, bracelets and sandals. Her lovely lilac colored hair is a statement by itself. For added dimension, she chose lots of jewelry for her look, including a statement necklace, earrings featuring the face of a tiger, an assortment of rings and a watch. For some additional color, she wore a turquoise skull bracelet on her wrist, and a matching bright pink on her lips and nails. To take this look up a notch for a girls night out, you could exchange the denim jacket for a sleek blazer or waistcoat and the sandals for a pair of ankle strap platforms.
