Let me start off by saying that Accounting is my bane of existence. Just the thought of the course gives me gray hairs and last time I checked, rocking gray hair in your early 20s was never trendy. Please correct me if I’m wrong though; I’m about one week shy of making a hair appointment. Nevertheless, all gray clouds have a silver lining (note: even the weather fancies accessorizing!), bringing me to this week’s fierce Fashionista.
I spotted this Fashionista heading back from the Campus Career Fair and I beg to question if the phrase “dress to impress” has ever been more appropriate. She’s got style, she’s got grace and she’s got a thing for Accounting (and accessorizing, might I add). In fact, she just so happens to be the Student Ambassador for KPMG. As the ever-wise and all-knowing Beyoncé Knowles once questioned and accurately answered, “Who run the world? Girls.”
This Fashionista is the ideal cocktail of work ethic and a good time, as fabulously accentuated by her outfit and choice of accessories. The pattern in her J.Crew pencil skirt is a sure fire way to leaving a lasting and favorable impression amongst the various company sponsors, while simultaneously maintaining a professional aura (pleased to cross paths again, mullet trend). Between her bold color choices and neutralizing accessories, she embodies the trifecta of chic, class and corporate. Now, don’t be fooled; this Fashionista may seem to be sporting a basic pair of black pumps, but her foot finds a boost with a baby doll toe, platform styling and a to-die-for silhouette. Not to mention, they go swimmingly with her black kate spade shoulder bag, balancing out the dominating hues of blues. She polishes off the overall look with dashes of sterling silver and diamonds; a gal’s best friend, indeed.
Unbeknownst to yours truly, one CAN have fun with Accounting and I have this Fashionista to thank for that. When dressing for the office, it is as important to identify with the corporation’s atmosphere as it is to incorporate your own sense of style. Accessories can be the perfect gateway item to simple and classic with an unexpected edge. Fiends for fashion, Zara and Ann Taylor are stores that thrive in this personal-meet-professional dynamic. Lets make a deal; you give this look a whirl, and I’ll give Accounting another whirl…maybe.
