In the September issue of Lucky magazine, Guerre was quoted, saying “A huge part of style is in the details. A bright bag, an edgy belt, a menswear watch, a dainty piece of jewelry—the way a person accessorizes shows their true sense of style and adventure. That’s what separates you from other people in the room and makes a statement on who you are for the day.” I couldn’t agree more.
This Fashionisto’s outfit is a great example of how accessories can take clothing to the next level. He opted for all blue attire, but kept it dimensional by incorporating alternate patterns. The look is casual but with definite attention paid to details. He sported a plaid flannel button-down shirt (a great transitional piece for fall) with a striped tank layered underneath. On bottom he wore khaki pants that were cuffed at the ankle to show black socks and gray slip-on sneakers featuring black laces.
This stylish guy opted for masculine accessories, including a sporty watch and a cool hatchet pendant hanging from a leather cord necklace. His tan colored backpack pops nicely against the rest of his blue apparel. He completed the ensemble by adding nerdy chic glasses which provide a professional touch, making this look great for grabbing a coffee and hitting the books at the library.
This is my final ACCESSORIES REPORT as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista, and if I can stress one thing, it would be this: whether you incorporate statement pieces or add more subdued staple items, accessorizing is key to personalizing an ensemble. Time spent obtaining a post-secondary education is a great opportunity to try new things before breaking out into the professional world. Personal style is no exception and demonstrating your unique charisma lies in the details, so be adventurous and don’t be afraid to have fun with fashion.
Spotted: Blue was standard on many menswear runways for spring 2013, however the color featured prominently in the Burberry Prorsum collection.
