STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Urban Creep

Style Advice of the Week

A few posts ago on CollegeFashionista, I wrote about the creeper revival. Since then I have seen creeper after creeper on and around the Belmont University campus. It’s like people are reading my posts or something… Regardless, I am so excited to see more of these shoes. Every pair is different: some have studs, some are patent and some are velvet. Some have enormous platforms while others stay low to the ground, but whatever shape or size they are, I can't get enough of them.

This Fashionista’s pair are super-elevated and velour. She paired her creepers with over-the-knee socks and a black mini skirt for a schoolgirl-gone-Goth feel. I love how she added the sleeveless floral blouse that is reminiscent of the mirrored prints Alexander McQueen is so famous for. Those burgundy lips and round Ray-Bans really pull the look together.

I love how current shoe trends keep comfort in mind; although we like to try, not everyone can walk around campus in giant heels. These creepers really are college-friendly shoes. They are trendy, easy to walk in and incredibly comfortable. What more could a girl (or guy) want in a shoe?

Among my favorite creepers is this velvet pair from Dr. Marten’s collaboration with British model Agyness Deyn, this slip-on version by Costume National and, of course, the Jeffrey Campbell three-inch Stinger Creeper Platform shoe, complete with pewter spikes.

This fall semester, give your heels a rest and try out this shoe trend that your feet will surely thank you for.
