STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Beach Boy

Style Advice of the Week

The return of The Beach Boys has gotten everyone excited this year — from the tribute performance at the Grammy’s with Adam Levine and Mark Foster, to headlining Bonnaroo in Manchester, Tennessee, this band really seems to have brought back the ‘60s surfer vibe to the U.S. Could it be that they are to blame for the Hawaiian shirt trend? It seems to be the only logical explanation. Yes, the style was all over the men’s runways for spring/summer 2012, but I like to think The Beach Boys deserve most of the credit.

I found this Belmont University Fashionisto sporting the summer shirt trend with cuffed khakis and Fourth of July-appropriate Converse Chucks. His Ray-Ban Clubmasters couldn’t be more perfect for finishing off the look. Even the Florida key chain hanging from his belt loop adds to the beachy feeling.

Guys, if you’re thinking of trying out this trend, a thrift store is always your best bet to find a vintage Hawaiian shirt, but if you don’t feel like digging, ASOS has some pretty sweet options too. Don’t forget to button all the way to the top!

Pattern is intimidating for most people, especially men. It can sometimes come off as loud and even a little bit fruity, but if it is done in the right way, like on today’s Fashionisto, it can look oh so cool.

If you’re still feeling a little bit scared of the Hawaiian trend, just remember that girls dig a stylish guy. A trendy man equals a sexy man.
