Geometric prints have been bouncing around the fashion world for decades. They were everywhere in the sixties from big cities like Paris, London and New York to the smallest of towns. Luckily, the print has been on trend at least once every decade since its debut.
Prada, Miu Miu, Anna Sui, Louis Vuitton, Carven and Marc Jacobs all showed ‘60s-inspired geometric prints on the fall/winter 2012 runways last year. Prada went for long layered pieces with clashing prints, while Miu Miu showed matching printed suits in burnt oranges, deep purples and warm taupes. Anna Sui kept it a little more playful with brightly colored modern shift dresses and knee-high socks. Louis Vuitton went for skirt suits with large prints, while Carven kept their looks young with mini dresses in autumnal shades. Finally, Marc Jacobs opted for drama by mixing 19th century-inspired silhouettes with 1960s modern florals.
This week’s Fashionista stayed on trend by layering a geometric print dress and a black blazer over a black turtleneck. She wore some sheer tights, slouchy mustard socks and camel colored heeled booties. To get her look, start by finding the perfect new or vintage geometric dress.
