I cannot believe that it’s been almost ten years since the first episode of The O.C. aired. It was then that every middle school girl got their first glimpse at the adorably nerdy Seth Cohen. Seth’s favorite band was Death Cab for Cutie, and he enjoyed science fiction, comic books and using his sarcasm to lighten almost every dramatic situation in Newport Beach. Seth was definitely mine and every other girl’s dream boy in the 2000s, so I was delighted when this week’s Fashionisto described his style as “Seth Cohen chic”.
To get his look, start out with a great fitting pair of dark wash denim, like these from J.Crew. Next, pile on the layers starting with this rag & bone dark green Henley from MR PORTER. For extra warmth, add this suede patch navy hoodie, also by rag & bone. This Michael Kors plaid coat with a fur collar can be thrown on top to create the ultimate winter ensemble. Keep the look casual with some red high-top Converse sneakers.
I’m sure that Seth Cohen would be proud to know that he has not been forgotten. His quirkiness lives among us all, and he will remain in our generation’s hearts for years to come. Which television or film characters are your style siblings? Mine would definitely be Drew Barrymore as Ivy in Poison Ivy mixed with a little bit of Winona Ryder as Lydia Deetz in Beetlejuice —a little bit of ‘90s grunge meets ‘80s goth is never a bad thing in my opinion.
