Patterns have been seen everywhere here on Iowa State's campus, however polka-dots are a simple pattern that I personally overlook. After spotting this week’s Fashonista, I learned to not underestimate the power of polka-dots. This pattern may be simple but it's exciting!
I loved this week's Fashionista’s oversized polka-dot pattern. She paired her oversized polka-dotted chiffon blouse with leggings, combat boots and a leather jacket for an easy campus look. Her outfit was flattering, comfortable and trendy, which are all important aspects for us Fashionistas. One of my favorite aspects of her chiffon shirt was the contrast between the tan background color and black polka-dots.
Speaking of contrast, this black and white spotted scarf is a perfect addition to any fall outfit. The soft knit will keep you warm while the vibrant print will add some excitement to the sometimes gloomy weather. Wear this scarf with a fall jacket, colored skinny jeans for some added color and a pair of black ankle booties.
Denim shirts have also become a staple to many Fashionistas and Fashionistos wardrobe the past few seasons. This polka-dotted denim shirt is a perfect marriage of my new favorite print and an essential shirt. It's so versatile and can be worn many different ways. One of my favorite ways to wear my denim shirts are tied for a casual look. Simply unbutton a few of the bottom buttons and tie them in a knot. Wear this shirt cropped with a pair of high-waisted jeans and combat boots.
Polka-dot is a pattern that is simply playful. Play up your wardrobe with some polka-dots and you’ll be sure to feel as fun as you look.
