STYLE GURU BIO: Abbey Crain

Style Guru Bio

My name is Abbey Crain and I am thrilled to begin my third semester as a Style Guru for the University of Alabama, where I’m currently a junior studying journalism and art. I work as the fashion columnist for my school’s student newspaper, The Crimson White, where immersion in current trends and personal style is a must.

My love for all things fashion blossomed at a young age. Being forced into humdrum school uniforms complete with boxy polos and knee-length plaid skirts encouraged my current love of eclectic ensembles with lots of personality—and for that I thank you, private schooling.

I consider clothes to be an extension of my personality, an outlet of sorts. I find myself daydreaming of unusual apparel combinations and excited to get out of bed to dress for what I feel describes me that day. I enjoy perusing style blogs as well as high-fashion magazines such as Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar for inspiration. My love of print mixing, classic twisting, and high heels propelled my newly-created style blog Ragged or Well Dressed. I believe leopard print can be worn as a neutral, every outfit must contain one sparkly note and polka-dots will never go out of style

After I graduate, with my affinity for writing and fashion in tow, I plan to move leave my small town ways and write for a fashion magazine. I would love to be more knowledgable about the street style and day-to-day fashion excursions of a larger city, as my hometown of Huntsville and my city of schooling, Tuscaloosa, are usually lacking in these departments.

I am excited to delve deeper into on-campus fashion trends as a Style Guru and hopefully inspire others to see fashion as another realm of creativity to be utilized for personal experimentation.
