CollegeDormista—New Spaces

The article is sponsored by Bed Bath & Beyond

Nothing is more personal than an individual’s living space. Much like with fashion, the way one decorates and styles his or her apartment or dorm says a lot about who they are, what inspires them and more.

Our Style Gurus’ living spaces are as unique as they are. From vintage-inspired to super contemporary, our Style Gurus take their standout personal styles from their closets and infuse it into their bedrooms. While each Style Guru may have a different aesthetic when it comes to décor, they were all able to enhance their spaces and stay true to themselves with the help of their favorite items from Bed Bath & Beyond. Whether your style is minimalist-chic or bohemian goddess, Bed Bath & Beyond has all your home décor needs (and wants).

First up is Anna, a University of Kentucky Style Guru whose style in and out of the bedroom is inspired both by her French teacher mother and job at a local vintage boutique. See how she these sources of inspiration are translated into her living space with must-have pieces from Bed Bath & Beyond.

My name is Anna and I am currently a senior at the University of Kentucky majoring in merchandising, apparel and textiles. I’ve always been a very creative person. While I love fashion, my creativity manifests itself in many other ways as well—one of which is decorating. My mom is a French teacher and I work in a vintage store, which reflects heavily in my style—both in my room and in my closet. I love classic pieces with a fun twist, but I also appreciate the beauty in simplicity.

When it came to decorating my very first beautiful apartment, I tried to show my personality while highlighting the amazing qualities that my bedroom already had to offer—namely, the wood floors and huge windows. I also wanted to create a calm space where I could work and feel inspired, so I kept decorations and distractions to a minimum. I love when a room feels clean and bright, which is why I chose a white linen bedspread and no curtains for the windows.

The few other decorations I have around my room are a mixture of vintage finds from France that my mom has given me or pieces that I’ve collected over the years from my parents’ house and various antique stores. The combination of French, vintage and clean styles that I’ve put together always makes me feel like I’ve escaped to the French countryside, and never fails to calm me down on even the most hectic of days.

Here are my top picks from Bed Bath & Beyond that help shape my space into my personal French chateau:
