STYLE GURU STYLE: Dark Blue Chic

My favorite color is pink. My favorite colors to wear are black and white. I used to despise those two colors. Believe me, if you were forced to wear them to school for 11 years, you would try to avoid them, too. When I graduated high school and was able to wear anything I wanted to class, I refused the black and white theme for about a year. Soon enough, white button-ups and black dresses found their way back into my closet, and then, once again, I had to force myself to say no to another little black dress (LBD.)

I love Balenciaga’s fall 2014 ready-to-wear collection. The first look caught my attention with its vibrant blue color. I love that it is so modern and refreshing. It is a great alternative to your classic black color. Dark blue fur detailing on that coat looked incredible on the runway, so I felt like it wouldn’t look bad on the streets of Milan either.

This faux fur jacket immediately caught my attention. It’s chic and casual at the same time. The color of it makes it different and stands out from the crowd. It’s so easy to throw on with blue jeans and a white T-shirt. For this look, I wanted to go for something a little more dressed-up and girly. I decided on a matching blue skirt and a black, silky blouse. A little bit of jewelry, including silver earrings and a ring, completed the outfit. The knot detail on my blouse was a great substitute for a necklace and added a little twist to the look. Black opaque tights kept me warm and the black shoes were comfy and casual.

It was nice to get out of my comfortable black and white zone and try something new. Adding more colors to your wardrobe is always a great way to experiment.

Get My Look: 1. A faux fur dark blue jacket. 2. A  blue A-line skirt. 3. Black blouse.
