6 Details To Elevate Your Outfit Game This Winter

It’s about to be too cold to handle outside. Fortunately, the cold weather is no threat to true Style Gurus. I’m ready for the challenge of wearing all of the upcoming season’s best looks throughout the winter by making a few simple additions.

If you’re wondering what pieces you need to rock now and into the winter months, here’s what you need:

Piece #1: The Tiniest of Purses

My favorite trend I’ve seen all over my feed are mini purses. I only ever carry around my phone and keys, so I love these cute little cross-body bags. The Valentino Spring/Summer 2017 fashion show proved that these bags are here to stay even after this winter! Here are some of my current favorite picks for you to add to your closet.

Try this sleek black Rebecca Minkoff Camera Bag for your day trips downtown with a mysterious black trench coat and statement sunglasses.

Even though it’s a little bit on the tiny size, you can’t deny a classic camel colored bag to hold your keys, lipstick and iPhone like this mini purse from Diane Von Furstenburg. Definitely would pair a purse like this with a Faux Fur Moto Jacket this season.

The reason why I love the tiny purse look so much is because there are so many ways to wear it. If you really want to try something different, wear a Belted Purse like this.

Piece #2: Velvet

Eliminate any pre-conceived notion that you have about velour bubble-gum pink Juicy Couture Tracksuits from the early ’00s. Velvet is now back and better than ever, and has become everyone’s best friend this fall. I can’t wait to welcome it with open arms into the winter months.

For my winter formals, I’ve seen velvet dresses around every corner. While they are a super cute statement, there are more subliminal ways to rock the trend. This Velvet Blazer with a graphic t-shirt underneath gives more punk-rock vibes to your outfit. It’s a little less of a statement than a full-on velvet dress, but just enough edge to stand out.

Layer a thick, cozy turtleneck with a Velvet BomberBombers have been all the rage this fall, but the right velvet piece in the cold weather will make you feel stylish and bundled up.

Grab these Velvet block-heel boots from Zara for the perfect pop of color with all of your dark winter patterns this season.

Piece #3: Grab a Statement Belt

The fashion world can’t get enough of double buckle belts like these. This belt is just a little bit different than your average one, and it will add a little extra to a plain sweater and pair of jeans when you’re dressing to stay warm.

This Western Belt will stand out in any outfit this season. Add a little bit of a western vibe to any outfit without going all-out with a pair of cowboy boots and a ten-gallon hat.

This Madewell Belted Purse may or may not be another tiny purse, but I’m just obsessed with the combination of the purse with a belt attached! Try this cool updated fanny-pack out for size and rock it on the streets this winter!

Piece #4: Winter Whites

These White Booties are just the right amount of cool when added to any outfit. If you’re wearing hundreds of layers and a pair of black slacks, add these booties to stand out.

I love this Fringe Cardigan because it can work throughout the fall, winter and spring. The fringe transitions this white from the warmer months into the cold, and it looks so cute with a pair of white jeans. For extra warmth in the sub-zero temperatures, just add a black trench coat over it!

This Boxy Denim Jacket

Piece #5: Neck Scarf

This winter, you can wear your Long Skinny Scarf and use some of these looks for inspiration. These skinny scarves have been my favorite thing to add to an outfit for awhile now because they add a great touch to any minimalistic look.

Wearing a scarf like this Faux Fur one blends two of my favorite looks in one. I love that fur is coming back in style because I love how cozy and sophisticated it looks. It makes any coat go from a simple look to a dramatic fashion statement.

Wear this Red Tie Scarf to look effortless Parisian chic. Wear it with any black, brown or patterned trench coat this winter as an extra accessory!

Piece #6: All About Animal Print

There definitely is a right and wrong way to wear animal print. I’ve always been hesitant to try it out for myself, but with the right pieces, you’ll suddenly look like you have everything in your life put together.

The one coat you’ll need this winter is a big Leopard Print Coat. If you can’t find one in your mom’s closet, you’ll definitely need to invest in one because it will make any outfit look like you’re a fashion insider ready for NYFW.

For all of those who are more hesitant about wearing crazy patterns, try a pair of cute booties. I’d definitely wear these shoes this winter when I’m bundled up in all of the whites and blacks in my wardrobe and I need a pop of a pattern.

This Leopard Faux Collar Coat may be my favorite piece I’ve found in my searches because of how subliminal it is. You can wear it in so many ways this winter, like white a striped sweater and turtleneck underneath.
