5 Ways To Stay Inspired All Year Round

January 17th, 2017 at 2:00am

Although working in creative fields can be completely invigorating and fun, it can also be exhausting trying to maintain your creative mojo every single day. The secret to not falling into a creative rut is to flood your environment with a diverse range of inspiration.

Avoid a creative block with these five ways to add a lot more inspiration into your day:

1—Set The Mood Right. Create mood boards and vision boards that can serve as  a constant reminder of what your goals are. Plaster your room with motivational quotes, beautiful images and photographs of loved ones. Creating these mood. Constantly seeing these boards will uplift your mood and encourage you to keep persevering until your dreams manifest themselves. (Photo via @shannamerceron)

2—Surf The Web. In the age of social media, it can become a habit to only look to Instagram or Twitter for inspiration. But there are plenty of other websites that have amazing visual content that will surely get your creative juices flowing. Some of my favorite sites include Pinterest, Designspiration, and Issuu. Don’t feel limited to just design-focused sites, National Geographic and IGNAT also have great content that emphasize nature and architecture. (Photo via @ambber_k)

3—You’ve Got To Move It.  An easy way to stay inspired is to get moving. Take a walk, go to the gym or even dance around your bedroom. Getting your blood flowing will energize your mind to produce fresh and innovative ideas. (Photo via @jeze_bell)

4—Meditation. It’s true that the internet offers us a complete pass to the world and all it has to offer but sometimes it can be overwhelming. We are constantly having images thrown at us from huge marketing campaigns to product promotions. It can get difficult to not be extremely influenced by everything we see. Taking time offline to enjoy some quiet time can give your mind and spirit the break it needs from technology so that you can return back to your roots. (Photo via @iammasima)

5—More Reading, Create More. Reading is potentially the best solution to all things creative, especially if you  are running low on inspiration. So sit back, relax, and crack open a good book. Getting lost in a novel will free your brain to roam in a fantasy world. I personally love to read autobiographical books to gather inspiration like Russell Simmons’ “Super Rich.” Inspirational books can also unleash a whole new side to your creativity like“Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear” by Elizabeth Gilbert.
