Five Smoothie Bowl Recipes To Try This Week

I recently found a cool yogurt place in my hometown and I got an acai bowl. After seeing smoothie bowls nearly flood my Instagram feed, one spoonful in and I understood what the hype was all about. Not only are these creamy concoctions good content, but they’re good for you. Take for example the bee pollen that topped my bowl; which not only looks and tastes delicious, but also helps build your immunity.
As I was savoring this next level froyo, I thought about how I would love to be able to make my own acai bowls whenever I wanted instead of paying $10 (or more) each time I was in the mood for it. So I went home with the “difficult” task to create five different smoothie bowls that I (as well as the CollegeFashionista reader) can try to make at home for less than the restaurant option.
Check out these simple recipes below. I also highlighted one main ingredient in each (like pollen) and how it can benefit you!

Mango Smoothie Bowl

Ingredients

  • 1/2 Banana
  • 1/2 cup blueberries
  • Mango and pineapple chunks
  • Handful of ice
  • Sliced Almonds
  • 1 cup coconut water

My twist: Add bee pollen to this bowl!! Pollen is an antioxidant and boosts the immune system. You can drop some pollen dust in the blender and it will fully dissolve. It also works as a booster for your immunity to actual bee pollen when the spring rolls around.

Peach Pie Smoothie Bowl

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups frozen peaches
  • 1/2 cup almond milk
  • 3/4 cup plain nonfat greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon almond butter
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/2 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • Peach slices
  • Almond slices
  • Blueberries

My twist: The almond butter will be an awesome source of protein. And any reason to add almond butter to just about anything is good by me.

The Best Smoothie Bowl

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 banana
  • 1 cup frozen berry mix
  • 3 blackberries
  • 3 strawberries
  • Coconut flakes
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 1/2 cup coconut water
  • Raspberries
  • Chia seeds
  • Cocoa powder

My twist: Choose between topping your bowl with raw chia seeds or soaking them within the smoothie while blending. The latter makes them easier for your body to digest and reap the full benefits of the nutrients.

Protein Acai Bowl

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 banana
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1 chocolate smoothie pack
  • 1-2 tablespoons organic peanut butter
  • 1 teaspoon cocoa powder (on top)
  • 1/4 cup organic granola
  • Coconut flakes
  • Granola
  • Banana slices

My twist: Add a protein smoothie pack for a sneaky way for a little more protein. This bowl was my favorite because I’m addicted to chocolate and peanut butter, so it was a treat to my taste buds and my overall health as well.
