4 Outerwear Styles That Make The Outfit

January 17th, 2017 at 2:00am

When I think of an outerwear piece, my instant thought is either a leather jacket, puffer or parka. They’re also more than likely the most neutral things in my closet that I throw on for utility purposes rather than necessarily fashion first.

But just because you have to wear a jacket doesn’t mean it should look it. It’s not just about keeping warm anymore; it’s about using your outerwear to make the outfit. While there’s still plenty of love for the classic cuts, check out these four unique outerwear styles that are having a major moment this season.

The Sherpa Trucker Jacket

The sherpa trucker jacket and really the sherpa material itself is starting to pop up everywhere! Sherpa is a super soft fabric often used as a faux sheepskin. This is a great piece that you can either build your outfit around or simply make it the statement piece.

Sweater Coats

Not everywhere is cold enough to rock super heavy fabrics. So instead, layer up. Using a scarf as a wrap on top of a chunky sweater coat is not only a great way to keep warm, but it adds dimension to your outfit.

Faux Fur

Faux fur screams glamor and chic. I find faux fur perfect for adding the finishing touch to a classy look or dressing up an everyday casual outfit. It has the power to bring every outfit (even just a pair of sweats and T-shirt) up a notch while still being so comfortable!

A Twist on a Classic

Like I mentioned before the duster coat and the leather jacket are closet essentials. While they are classics at times the look becomes too predictable and fresh new look of the trend is always a good idea. Whether it’s looking for a leather jacket with extra details like fringe or upgrading your coat with patches and pins. You can take an outer piece from neutral and practical to unique and chic!
